Michael Legge Studios
Early History
Before earning his Bachelors Degree from Salisbury State University, Salisbury Maryland and then working for a short time at Sherwin Williams, Mike Legge studied classical guitar with David Harris & folk rock guitar with Jeffrey Bleeke at the Academy of Musical Arts in Upper Montclair, NJ.
At age13 he was given a scholarship for summer music camp
by the Academy, at which time he performed "Yesterday" by the Beatles
(his first of many performances), with
another scholarship grantee . He then performed with folk groups & garage bands
at college and high school campuses as well as church auditoriums. One gig was
even in New York City's
Greenwhich
Village called the "The
Cafe Wha".
In 1978 Mike accepted two
jobs simultaneously, both in Newark, NJ -
1) teaching guitar at The DeBellis School of Performing Arts and at
2) New Jersey Blue Cross & Blue Shield
(now known as Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield)
as a Reimbursement Analyst.
Mike also studied at The Guitar Study Center founded by Paul Simon's brother Eddie Simon. It was there that Barry Kornfeld piqued his interest in Songwriting. As a member of ASCAP Mike was also privileged to attend Songwriting workshops; including a workshop with Lyricist/Jazz Singer Lorraine Feather.
In order to gain a deeper skill in Music Theory & Application he studied Jazz Guitar with Joe Cinderella. Later on Mike earned his Master of Arts Degree in Music Composition from the College of NJ in Trenton, NJ where he learned Arranging from Frank Hunter. It was shortly after that he composed the "New Orleans Motif" being inspired by his vacation in New Orleans.
Later History
In 2007 Mike transitioned his career as a Research Scientist, with the NJ Department of Health to an Independent Researcher. Prior to the transition he was heavily involved in the New Jersey Initiative known as the DRG System. During this transition he was also involved in the development & deployment of healing music systems based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncturists and Massage Therapists earned CEUs from NCBAHM (formerly NCCAOM) and NCBTMB by being certified in the "Legge Method of Allergy Elimination."
In 2014 his "I Ching Rebalancing Music" system was used in TLC Hospice for dementia and failure to thrive patients and Lansdale Hospital for Med/Surg, Telemetry and ACU patients. With the Music Apothecary an app for Android & Windows Operating Systems was developed and used in private practice for Food Disorders, Electro-Magnetic Field Sensitivity and Brain & Body Region Disorders. Mike also practiced his "Musical Yi Jing", the newest system for helping his clients at the time.
Mike's exposure to both the academic world of music
composition and real world health care from the bureaucratic perspective of DRG
planted the seeds for his Master Thesis which later eventuated through his
various and sundry systems into what is now
known as
The
Music Pharmacy
Mike also has clinical experience as a Reiki
Master, a NAET Practitioner
and a
Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
He was a member of
the American Society of Dowsers
and was the
Vice President of the Guy Snyder Chapter.
